Objective and solution overview
Problem statement
The existing product felt technical and intimidating, which hurt user trust and confidence. Complex layouts with too many options on a single screen overwhelmed new users. Forms had unclear labels and confusing error messages. Onboarding took 45+ minutes before users could execute their first trade. Navigation wasn't intuitive, so users couldn't find features easily. There was no design consistency - different screens used different styling and patterns. Visual design didn't communicate the security and reliability the product offered.
Solution approach
We conducted user interviews and usability testing to understand pain points. Created a modern visual language with a professional color palette (purples and blues for trust and stability), clear typography hierarchy, and consistent spacing using an 8px grid. Designed new onboarding flow that gets users to their first trade in 5 minutes. Simplified dashboard to show only relevant information with smart defaults. Created comprehensive component library (buttons, forms, cards, tables, modals) with variants for different states. Built a design token system so styling is consistent and maintainable. Created detailed design documentation and component specifications.
Results
User onboarding time dropped from 45 minutes to 5 minutes. Users felt more confident in the product - trust scores improved in surveys. Customer satisfaction (NPS) increased from 32 to 58. The design system enabled the development team to ship features 40% faster. Fewer support tickets because the interface is more self-explanatory. The design system is now used by the entire product team and design team as the source of truth.
